FEATURED WEDDING VENUE
Wedding Venue Management for Historic Felt Estate Wedding Venue in Michigan
The Felt Estate is an historic estate non-profit and Michigan wedding venue offering multiple, unique wedding ceremony locations, event spaces, and onsite accommodations.
Located along Lake Michigan between Holland and Saugatuck, it is a popular Michigan wedding venue for couples from Grand Rapids, Detroit, Chicago, and beyond. The estate carries a mission to preserve its architectural and cultural legacy while serving as a gathering place for the surrounding community.
CHALLENGE
Leadership wanted to grow rental income and elevate the guest experience, but not at the cost of the non-profit’s mission. The Felt Estate needed a venue manager and event staff, as well as a marketing plan, sales process, and an operational support structure to deliver a consistent client experience. Any solution had to serve two goals at once: sustainable financial growth and mission integrity.
SOLUTION
Curated Venues stepped in as the organization’s venue management partner, providing reimagined branding and marketing, day-to day event operations, event staffing and management, sales tactics, and a renewed focus on the guest experience, as well as planning support for select public events.
APPROACH
◆
BRANDING & MARKETING
Curated Venues oversaw a brand refresh as well as a full website redesign to support rental functions as well as the non-profit. A marketing strategy was built around organic social media reach to maximize the advertising budget.
◆
OPERATIONS & HOSPITALITY
Formal hospitality and event operations procedures were established, giving staff a consistent playbook for delivering a polished experience every time, managing the client relationship from initial inquiry to wedding day execution.
◆
PRICING AND SALES
A transparent pricing strategy and a defined sales process gave couples a clear, confident path to booking.
◆
COMMUNITY & MISSION
Public events were planned and executed to build community engagement and the organization’s visibility, keeping the estate’s non-profit mission at the forefront.
◆
GUEST EXPERIENCE
Event equipment, venue decor, furniture, and amenities were upgraded across the property, raising the guest experience to match the caliber of the historic setting.
The Outcome
The Felt Estate now operates with the structure of a professionally managed venue and the soul of a mission-driven nonprofit. The property's historical significance is preserved and actively celebrated while rental revenue has grown in a way that strengthens, rather than compromises, the organization's founding principles.
“As a fellow event planner, I have known Holden and Derrick for many years. We have worked together in a multitude of ways but my favorite has always been at The Felt Estate. I didn’t know what to expect when they took over the management of the estate but the changes and improvements over the years have been beyond anything I could have hoped for. They have worked so hard to make it an exceptional experience from top to bottom for both the clients renting the grounds, as well as, the vendors working there. Not only have they improved and updated the venue and its included amenities but they have poured time and energy into their social media presence, the website, client resources and so much more. They have truly taken a local hidden gem and made it a destination worth traveling for.”
